As we approach Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, our movement is asking for your support as we embark on the most important phase in our history: bringing the crisis of the occupation to the 2020 election cycle. Legally, this requires an entire new organizational structure, with its own funding streams — so we’re asking you to be an inaugural donor to IfNotNow’s Political Campaign.

The High Holidays are a time to reflect on the past year and look towards the transformation we want to see in ourselves and in our world next year.
As we think about our past year, we’re reflecting on what it’s going to take to achieve a world where all Israelis and Palestinians live with freedom and dignity, and that means not letting opportunities pass by.
We know what’s standing in our way: the right’s sinister weaponization of antisemitism to silence legitimate criticism of Israel and distract from white nationalist violence. They brandish their support for Israel as a wedge to isolate Jews from the emergent Democratic coalition and to weaken it.
Even while antisemitism in this country grows more violent and public — from Charlottesville to Pittsburgh to Poway — those who claim to represent us take the right’s bait and call progressive women of color antisemitic for criticizing Israeli policy.
The stakes for inaction are enormous: failure to stop the successful weaponization of antisemitism will forever limit the progressive movement’s ability to be powerful and win the changes our country so desperately needs.
So, IfNotNow members across the country will spend 5780 working to transform not just our community, but also our politics.
For years, politicians on both sides of the aisle have worked to hold up the Israeli government that has denied millions of Palestinians dignity and human rights for decades. Today, the Republicans actively supports annexation and Netanyahu’s vision of permanent Israeli control over Palestinian land. And most Democrats refuse to even use the word “occupation” to describe the devastating reality on the ground, let alone consider meaningful consequences toward Israel.
These politicians are following the lead of morally bankrupt American Jewish establishment organizations like AIPAC, who have encouraged politicians to never question the Israeli government — claiming it is in the interest of the Jewish community.
We know that the American Jewish institutions will never be able to meaningfully fight back against Trump’s antisemitism and racism because they, like him, conflate his policies supporting Netanyahu and the Israeli government with what is good for American Jews.
This year, let’s come together to reject this false-choice, pitting unconditional support for Israel against both the freedom of others and the safety of our community.
We must fight back against rising antisemitism. We must work to end Israel’s military occupation. And we can do both in the lead up to the most consequential election of our lifetime.
Will you be an inaugural donor to IfNotNow’s 2020 Project? Each and every dollar raised will be used to fight back against the weaponization of antisemitism and achieve freedom and dignity for all Israelis and Palestinians.
