Imperial Valley United for Progress (IV-UP) is a Countywide general political action committee created by progressives to support progressive causes and candidates in the County of Imperial.

As we saw with the devastating and hateful recall of Calexico’s first transgender mayor and her progressive ally Gilberto Manzanarez, progressive policy priorities must have a more organized defense to ensure that power rests with the people of the Imperial Valley and that the policies enacted are transparent and reflect the needs of our historically marginalized communities. Imperial Valley United for Progress is committed to building political power for policies that support environmental, racial, social, and economic justice.

Progress in the Imperial Valley is under attack by far-right conservative groups aligned with career politicians who have historically kept power under a tight grip and have placed special interests over the health and wellbeing of our people. Evident by comments from elected officials who openly deny climate change, call for the removal of recently installed EV chargers, and have returned millions of dollars to the state government that were destined to support asylum seekers and migrants in our border region.
