Janice Weiner for Iowa Senate District 45

In my three years in the State Senate, I've witnessed our colleagues across the aisle enact countless policies that Iowans don't want and that have objectively harmed our state. We have worked hard to put up roadblocks wherever possible and to offer positive alternatives - to put in place policies that will make Iowa the welcoming state we all know it can be. 

I have led our caucus to two red-to-blue special election victories after being elected as Leader of the Senate Democrats after the 2024 election. These victories have broken the supermajority in the State Senate - offering the only block on GOP power in Iowa. Now, it is my job to help elect more Democrats to stop their harmful policies from affecting people in Iowa City and across the state.

I am running for re-election to continue that work. We need to address the real issues plaguing Iowa - our public education system that is being run down by harmful decisions in the legislature, health care that remains unaffordable for Iowans, and an economy broken by Republican unified control nationally and statewide.

We need to be working for all Iowans - for their freedoms, for opportunity, for accountability - for a fair deal.
