Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Food Drive


The Democrats of Jefferson County are hosting our yearly food drive to benefit our friends and neighbors in Jefferson County. Each year we host this effort during the lead up to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, to honor his outsized commitment to social justice, equity, and our country as a whole.


Items and funds donated will be evenly split between Shepherdstown Shares, the Blue Ridge Food Pantry, and Jefferson County Community Ministries.


For those who wish to donate funds, 100% will be used to purchase meat, vegetables, and eggs from local vendors.


Shelf stable items being accepted: canned vegetables, canned soup, canned chicken or tuna, individual cups of fruit and applesauce, ramen, macaroni cheese, crackers, peanut butter, jelly, pasta sauce, noodles, toilet paper, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, baby wipes, disposable razors, body wash, shaving cream, and tampons.


Donations can be dropped off during business hours at:

Two Rivers Counseling (224 E. Liberty St., Charles Town)

Potomac Trading Company (107 W. German St., Shepherdstown)


Kohl's Parking Lot on Monday, January 19th from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. Look for the grey VW SUV.


Monetary donations must be made by the end of the day on Monday, January 19th.

Contribution rules

  1. I am making this contribution with my own personal credit card and not with a corporate or business credit card or a card issued to another person.
  2. I am a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident (i.e., green card holder).
  3. I am at least eighteen years old.
  4. This contribution is made from my own funds, and funds are not being provided to me by another person or entity for the purpose of making this contribution.
