About the Candidate
Kat Abughazaleh is a Palestinian American grassroots candidate running to represent Illinois’ Ninth District. She studied extremism and genocide at George Washington University and built her career exposing right-wing extremism as a journalist. A renter, former uninsured worker, and union representative, she is running to defend democracy, fight for economic justice, and advance a humane foreign policy. Powered entirely by grassroots donors, her campaign has raised more than $3 million with an average contribution of $31, rejecting corporate PAC money, AIPAC, and billionaire funding while building a grassroots movement for IL-09.
