Former NFL Linebacker Colin Allred is a civil rights attorney and North Dallas native. A fourth-generation Texan, Allred was born and raised in Dallas by a single mom, who was a public school teacher and often worked two jobs to make ends meet. After law school, Allred worked alongside then-HUD Secretary Julian Castro as a special assistant and later worked at the Perkins Coie law firm as a counselor and as a litigator on voting rights issues. With JDCA support, Rep. Allred flipped TX-32 from red to blue in 2018. This seat was previously held by a member of the Republican leadership for 22 years. Since taking office, Allred has co-sponsored legislation consistent with JDCA’s values and policy priorities. This includes securing over $135 million in federal dollars for critical public transportation, healthcare, affordable housing, and law enforcement. He also led the effort to open a new VA hospital in Garland and two other VA facilities in Dallas and El Paso. Rep. Allred is running for the newly-drawn TX-33 to lower costs and stop corrupt politicians like Donald Trump from rigging the economy against hardworking Texans.
