First elected in 2024, Rep. Wesley Bell previously served as St. Louis County Prosecutor, where he led a variety of initiatives focused on making law enforcement more effective and accountable. He established a violent crimes unit that focused on domestic violence and invested in programs to support offenders who struggled with substance abuse disorder and mental health issues, an initiative with a nearly 90% success rate. His record includes diverting 2,200 low-level, nonviolent defendants to job training and health care programs and ending death penalty prosecutions in the county. Rep. Bell advocates for strengthening the economy through job and skills training, reinvesting in rural communities, expanding access to health insurance, lowering prescription drug costs, defending reproductive rights, fighting climate change, raising the federal minimum wage, and believes a strong middle class comes from strong unions. Bell also supports a two-state solution and opposes conditioning aid to Israel. JDCA endorsed Rep. Bell in 2024.
