

Senator Ben Ray Luján has served as the junior United States senator from New Mexico since 2021. Prior to the Senate, he served in the House of Representatives, where he held key leadership roles including Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Assistant Speaker under Speaker Nancy Pelosi. A champion for affordable healthcare, Sen. Luján supported the Affordable Care Act and has fought to expand coverage, reduce prescription drug costs, and protect those with pre-existing conditions. He has been a leading advocate for Native American communities, particularly in expanding access to clean water and essential services on tribal lands. Sen. Luján sits on the Senate Committee on Finance, the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, the Committee on The Budget, and the Committee on Indian Affairs. He supports a strong U.S.-Israel relationship, opposes the BDS movement, backs a two-state solution, and views Israel as a key ally in the Middle East. He is a committed ally of the Jewish community and sees a responsibility to confront all forms of antisemitism head on. JDCA endorsed Sen. Luján in 2020.
