Elaine Luria (VA-02)

Elaine Luria, former Representative for VA-02 (2019-2023), is challenging Rep. Jen Kiggans, who unseated her by three points in 2022. While in Congress, Luria served as the Vice Chair of the House Armed Services Committee and as a member of the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol. She focused on military and defense issues, including expanding access to care for veterans. Rep. Luria was consistently praised as one of the most bipartisan legislators. Prior to Congress, she served for two decades in the United States Navy, retiring at the rank of Commander. Rep. Luria, who is Jewish, is outspoken about combating antisemitism. If elected, she plans to rejoin the House Bipartisan Taskforce for Combating Antisemitism. Luria believes Israel is our strongest ally in the Middle East and advocates for a two-state solution as the only path to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Luria supports continued humanitarian assistance and peace-building measures for the Palestinians. JDCA endorsed Luria in 2018, 2020, and 2022.
