
Rep. Sarah McBride was elected to Congress in 2024 after serving as a Delaware state senator since 2020, gaining national attention for becoming the first openly transgender state senator and member of Congress. Prior, she served as the national press secretary for the Human Rights Campaign. She also worked for former Governor Jack Markell and the late Attorney General Beau Biden and served in the Obama-Biden White House. Rep. McBride was awarded the Order of the First State, Delaware’s highest civilian honor. As state senator, she passed legislation expanding healthcare access, promoting green technologies, and providing paid family and medical leave to Delaware workers. Rep. McBride’s additional priorities include ensuring access to reproductive healthcare, strengthening the economy, and advancing gun safety. She currently sits on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Science, Space and Technology, and serves as Co-Chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus. JDCA endorsed Rep.
