

Rep. Neal has served as U.S. representative for Massachusetts' 1st Congressional District since 1989. Born in Worcester and raised in Springfield, Rep. Richard Neal relied on Social Security survivor benefits to attend college. He taught history and served as a city councilor, mayoral aide, and Mayor of Springfield before serving in Congress. Rep. Neal helped write the Affordable Care Act and has encouraged states to expand Medicaid coverage. He is also a champion for climate action and has taken action in Congress to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and invest in green energy. Throughout his career, he has been a steadfast advocate for Israel and the Jewish community. JDCA endorsed Rep. Neal in 2020, 2022, and 2024.
