Joe Neguse, the House Assistant Minority Leader, has served in Congress since 2019 and is the first Black member of Congress from Colorado. He has been named one of the most effective lawmakers in the country, including the second most effective House Democrat in March 2025, by the Center for Effective Lawmaking. Prior to serving in Congress, Neguse served as the Executive Director of Colorado’s consumer protection agency and recovered millions of dollars for consumers, championed legislation to combat financial fraud against seniors, and launched the state’s first online filing system for civil rights discrimination complaints. Neguse has supported numerous pieces of pro-Israel legislation, including legislation to support the hostages, send supplemental aid to Israel, and condemn Hamas. Following the June 2025 attack on pro-Israel protestors in Boulder, Rep. Neguse introduced a resolution condemning the rise in antisemitism and violent attacks on Jews in the United States. Rep. Neguse also served as an impeachment manager after Trump’s January 6 insurrection. He continues to be a strong advocate for Jewish Americans.
