Rep. Hillary Scholten has served as the U.S. Representative for Michigan's 3rd Congressional District since 2023. She has been creating change in her community since she began her career as a caseworker for the AIDS Action Committee, where she worked to shield members of the LGBTQ+ community from housing discrimination. From there, she clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and later went on to work for the Department of Justice under the Obama administration. At the DOJ, she focused on reforming American immigration policies and ensuring that immigrants were being treated fairly throughout the immigration process. Since then, Scholten has taken on roles at the Times Up Legal Defense Fund and the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center to provide legal assistance to those who need it most. Her priorities in Congress include defending the Affordable Care Act, investing in public education, and securing funding for infrastructure projects. JDCA endorsed Rep. Scholten in 2020, 2022, and 2024.
