Juliana Stratton is the first African-American woman to serve as Lieutenant Governor of Illinois, a position she has held since 2019. She was born and raised in Chicago and established her own consulting firm after graduating from law school. She joined the Illinois House of Representatives from 2016 to 2018, where she led 25 bills and sat on several committees. As Lieutenant Governor, Stratton has spearheaded the Justice, Equity, and Opportunity Initiative and chairs multiple councils where her priorities include early childhood education, reproductive rights, and criminal justice reform, as well as raising the minimum wage, Medicare for All, and ridding politics of corporate PAC money. She will continue fighting antisemitism and be a leading advocate against hate and extremism in all forms in the Senate.
