Rep. Ritchie Torres (NY-15)

Representative Ritchie Torres has represented New York’s 15th District since 2020. Prior, he was New York City’s youngest elected official and the first openly LGBTQ+ person elected to office in the Bronx at age 25. He was raised by a single mother in a public housing project and governs from a place of lived experience. During his seven-year tenure in the New York City Council, he passed over forty pieces of legislation, including legislation protecting the city’s affordable housing stock and tackling the city’s opioid epidemic. In Congress, he has introduced legislation to reduce gun violence and uphold democracy. Rep. Torres introduced the Antisemitism Inclusion in DEI Act to require companies to combat antisemitism and advocated for federal action to combat antisemitism on college campuses. He supports a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and is opposed to conditioning aid to Israel. He was a cosponsor of H. Res. 771, Standing with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists. JDCA endorsed Rep. Torres in 2020 and 2024.
