

Rep. Derek Tran is an army veteran, consumer rights attorney, city commissioner, and small business owner. He has served as the U.S. representative from California's 45th Congressional District since 2025. His parents fled Vietnam and moved to Southern California, where they opened a corner market where Derek worked throughout school. He enlisted in the army at age 18, after which he went to law school and opened a small business to support immigrants, survivors of sexual harassment, consumers, and workers. He also served on the Orange Traffic Commission to help with transportation and highway planning. In Congress, he sits on the House Armed Services Committee. His priorities include infrastructure investment to boost clean energy jobs, affordable healthcare and prescription drug prices, and the right to choose. JDCA endorsed Rep. Derek Tran in 2024.
