Josh Turek (IA-Sen)
State Legislator Josh Turek currently represents the reddest seat held by a Democrat in the state of Iowa. Turek was born with spina bifida after his dad was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam and underwent 21 surgeries by the age of 12, eventually becoming a two-time Paralympic gold medalist. Turek first won the race to represent Council Bluffs in the legislature in 2022. Turek has focused on shaping economic policy to boost the middle and working class, advocating for public education, and championing health care reforms. Turek previously voted in favor of final passage of a resolution, which expressed support for Israel, condemned antisemitism and expressed solidarity with the victims of the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attacks. He will face an incumbent Republican in this race, and plans to flip this seat blue.
