

Rep. Vasquez was first elected to Congress in 2022 by less than one percentage point. Before being elected to Congress, Rep. Vasquez served his community as a member of the Las Cruces City Council from 2017 to 2021. On the City Council, then-Councilmember Vasquez secured millions of dollars in investments for parks and infrastructure, as well as crafted a development plan that lifted families in the region out of poverty. In Congress, Rep. Vasquez focuses on expanding voting rights, supporting unions, and investing in clean energy. Rep. Vasquez currently sits on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Armed Services Committee. Prior to entering elected office, he worked in public lands conservation as well as serving as a policy advocate for child welfare. JDCA endorsed Rep. Vasquez in 2022 and 2024.
