Representative Eugene Vindman was born in Soviet Ukraine during the height of the Cold War. His family fled when he was young and arrived in New York as refugees in 1979. Rep. Vindman and his brothers attended public schools in Brooklyn, and after graduating, he attended SUNY Binghamton and enrolled in ROTC at Cornell. He was commissioned as an infantry officer and spent 25 years in the Army. In 2016, he was assigned to the Pentagon and later joined the NSC. Rep. Vindman and his brother, also in the NSC, were the whistleblowers who reported Trump’s call with the President of Ukraine, which launched Trump’s first impeachment. Rep. Vindman’s priorities include reproductive freedom, safe and high-quality public education, a strong middle class, and voting rights. As a Jewish American, Rep. Vindman is committed to ensuring that law enforcement agencies have the tools to combat the threat of white nationalism and strengthen hate crime laws. Rep. Vindman believes a two-state solution is the only path forward to achieve peace and that we must work with regional partners, as well as Israeli and Palestinian leadership, to develop a multi-step plan to protect the safety of the Israeli people and ensure a successful two-state solution. Since October 7, Rep. Vindman has advocated for the national security supplemental to secure additional funding for Israel and criticized Republicans for delaying its passage. JDCA endorsed Rep. Vindman in 2024.
