Marni von Wilpert (CA-48)

Marni von Wilpert is a San Diego City Councilmember, lifelong public servant, and former prosecutor who flipped San Diego’s most conservative council district blue in 2020. Von Wilpert served in the Peace Corps in Botswana during the AIDS epidemic, founded a legal clinic to combat discrimination in the Deep South, and has served as counsel on the House Education and Labor Committee helping to protect workers’ rights. Von Wilpert stated she “strongly” supports “Israel’s right to exist as a secure, Jewish democratic state and defend itself from the real threats it faces.” Von Wilpert is prioritizing tackling the skyrocketing cost of living, combating ICE’s terror on immigrant communities, protecting reproductive freedom, defending LGBTQ rights, and addressing wealth in politics.
