John Laesch is a current Alderman-at-Large in the City of Aurora. He won that seat by defeating an incumbent with 54% of the vote, despite being outspent in a hotly contested, 3-way race in 2023. More impressively, John has not, and will not accept campaign donations from corporate PACs or corporations who do business with the City of Aurora!
John Laesch is a union carpenter, a climate activist, a former East Aurora School Board Member (2015-2019), and a former military intelligence analyst who served in the United States Navy from 1996-1999.
John graduated from Waubonsee Community College and went on to graduate from Illinois State University in 2003 with degrees in History, Political Science and Public Relations.
Laesch is a green builder who earned BPI-certifications (Building Performance Institute) as an energy auditor and envelope specialist. He understands the technical aspects and policy changes needed to make commercial and residential living spaces super energy efficient. John continues to fight to address the climate crisis, economic and racial injustices, and a government free from the corrupting influence of corporate campaign dollars.
John will be a mayor for all of us, not just the politically connected wealthy donors. Thank you for supporting our people-powered campaign! #NoStringsAttached
