About Jess:
Jess is a solo mom to two amazing kids. She has lived her entire life in the lower middle class always working hard to make ends meet, and she knows that living paycheck to paycheck is a common experience for too many Minnesotans. As a first generation college graduate, she knows the value of college while also living the hardship of paying back student loans. Jess holds a bachelor's degree in Social Work from St. Kate’s and a master’s degree in Advocacy and Political Leadership from Metro State.
She teaches at her alma mater in the fall to bring graduate students and high school students together at the Minnesota Capitol to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn what it is like to work as staff or serve as a legislator in a two day mini-session of the Metro State Model Legislature program.
Jess has worked on legalizing cannabis, protecting kids and empowering families, taking on Big Tech by banning AI nudification technology, strengthening R&D support for STEM projects, tackling challenges faced by women and people of color, eliminating taxes on social security income for 75% of seniors, supporting small business support systems, extending baby bonus tax credits when families grow, and so much more. With other DFLers, Jess has brought forward the largest middle class tax breaks in history, infused more investment in infrastructure and public education than ever before, expanded and protected trans and LGBTQIA2s+ rights, and enshrined people’s rights to reproductive healthcare for good.

The Politics of Care has been the focus of her work since her election in 2021, and her record proves it. Jess has passed over 50% of the bills she’s introduced, leading the way in what effective policy making can look like.
She’s working hard to be sure that we can all
afford a good life
where the basics don’t cost us everything.
She believes we deserve a government we can count on and trust.
She is doing her part to help create a future that we can all look forward to passing onto the next generations.
