Jon Ossoff - GA

Jon Ossoff is a native Georgian, investigative journalist, small business owner, and former Congressional candidate who will face first-term Republican Senator David Perdue in the January 5, 2021, run-off special election.

In 2017, Ossoff ran for Congress to stand up to the toxic and dangerous policies and politics of Donald Trump. The race became the most expensive Congressional race in American history, during which Ossoff mobilized the strongest Democratic Special Election turnout in over a decade, doubled youth turnout from the 2014 midterm, and produced the highest-ever overall turnout for a stand-alone House Special Election of all time — all while under massive slanderous personal attacks by GOP outside groups.

Ossoff’s business, Insight TWI, has investigated and exposed crooked judges, contract killers, human traffickers, war crimes, and bribery. Previously, as a national security aide for Rep. Hank Johnson, Ossoff helped deliver constituent services and federal resources for Georgians and helped draft legislation that passed both the House and Senate. He also investigated the mass surveillance of American citizens, and helped root out corruption and abuse by federal contractors.

If elected to the Senate, Jon promises his strong support for extensive voting rights expansions, ending money bail, and transforming our broken criminal justice system.

With two U.S. Senate seats and a four-seat margin, control of the Upper Chamber could very well come down to Democratic turnout in Georgia. In June, 250,000 more Democrats participated in the primaries than Republicans, and Jon needs the resources to ensure he can turn them out in January.

Why this race is competitive and critical to the balance of power in 2020:

  • Rated Toss Up
  • DSCC Top Recruit
  • Will determine control of the U.S. Senate - Democrats must win both runoff races in Georgia - Warnock and Ossoff - on Jan. 5 for a net gain of three seats to get to 50-50, and have for Vice President-elect Kamala Harris poised to break any tie votes.
