Amanda is a health sciences professor, public health advocate and Chair of the city's Commission on Health and Well-being.
On the commission, Amanda supported environmental justice and community health initiatives and worked to stop a Virginia Natural Gas compressor station that would be 500 ft. from Title 1 school.
Amanda's first priority will be reviewing the facilities assessment completed in 2021 and advocating for a comprehensive energy audit of all school buildings, followed by a plan to transition toward more energy-efficient systems.
She is also committed to the inclusion of climate and environmental science across grade levels to empower the next generation to lead on climate.
