Laura Leibowitz is a longtime climate activist who has organized against the development of new industrial areas, opposed new gas-fired plants, and helped pass New Jersey’s first clean energy program for utility choice. She will join Sarah Rashid as the first climate champions elected to city government.
Sarah Rashid is a community activist and member of the Piscataway Township Board of Education. She has fought against the proliferation of warehouses in her community and worked to protect kids from traffic and air pollution. Along with Laura Leibowitz, she will be one of the first climate champions on the township council.
