Jim Wertz is a union leader, teacher, and former chair of the Erie County Democratic Party.
The son of a single mother and widowed grandmother, Jim moved to Erie to attend Edinboro University. Developing an immigrant's love of an immigrant community, he chose to raise his family in Erie because he sees the potential in the region.
During his five years as chair of ErieDems, Jim prioritized reaching voters across Erie County, including areas often ignored by candidates and campaigns. He also oversaw an increase in voter participation in every election during his time.
Now, Jim is running to represent Erie's 2nd Council District on Erie County Council to protect our democracy and make government work for the people it serves. This seat is currently held by Councilman Andre Horton who cannot run again for this seat and is endorsing Jim in this race.
