Texas Republicans, acting at Donald Trump’s direction and with Greg Abbott’s support, redrew district lines to protect their own power — deliberately reshaping districts to create chaos and force sitting members into primaries. Julie Johnson — the only openly LGBTQ member of Congress from the South — is running because representation only matters if you are willing to defend it.

Julie didn’t step aside or look for an easier path. She chose to stay and fight for the communities she represents, even as a primary opponent parachuted into the district after failing to advance to the U.S. Senate twice.
