Jodi Habush Sinykin is running for Wisconsin’s Senate District 8 a district north and west of Milwaukee, that has been held by the GOP for decades. Last year in a Special Election, against all odds and an extreme Republican gerrymander, Jodi came just 1,296 votes (out of 75,751 votes cast) short of flipping Senate District 8 blue for the first time ever.
Now, thanks to Wisconsin’s new and fairer maps, Jodi has a real fighting chance to win---as do Wisconsin voters, who finally have the opportunity for representation after years of an increasingly out of touch, dysfunctional legislature.
As a long-time attorney, business owner, and environmental advocate, Jodi has the experience and leadership needed to bring people together—creating bridges between Democrat and Republican legislators and citizens alike—to accomplish important, complex legislative solutions: including the Great Lakes Compact (ensuring the protection of our precious Great Lakes water resources) and Wisconsin’s long awaited Puppy Mill Bill (putting an end to unregulated dog breeding operations).
Meanwhile her opponent Duey Stroebel flaunts his extremist views, especially those restricting women’s reproductive rights and safety. Jodi is a moderate equipped to represent the priorities of those living in the 8th Senate District: protecting a woman's right to choose, lowering taxes, ensuring public safety, supporting forward-thinking environmental protections, and keeping good paying jobs here in Wisconsin.
This race could not be more critical – with fair maps now in place, this Senate District 8 might very well be the “tipping point”— deciding who controls the Senate majority in Wisconsin going forward.
We need Jodi in the Wisconsin State Senate. We need her to win to restore a functioning legislature to Wisconsin, one that can work together to represent people across Wisconsin. Let’s move Wisconsin forward!
