Hi, I'm Joe Hegland, a former teacher and current public school employee running for Iowa Senate District 34.


I am running against Dan Zumbach as I am growing concerned that the everyday Iowan is losing their voice in Des Moines. From constantly undervaluing and talking down to education professionals, I believe that politicians in Des Moines have gone too far and need to be held accountable to the people they represent.


I'm working for

-Building back up our public education

-Increasing our healthcare and mental health services

-Strengthening our rural communities again

-Bringing back our humanity towards each other
