Hello, I’m John Norwood. I’m running for Iowa State Treasurer because I believe every Iowan deserves to know how their tax dollars are being spent. 


Iowa is facing a financial cliff. It's an issue that gets very little attention. Tax credits are being handed out to multi-billion dollar companies who don't need it. In 2024, over $52 million in perks and direct subsidies were given to large corporations that owe no state income tax (rather than small businesses). Iowa ranks 51st for worst US economy, which includes Washington DC.


Programs that help Iowans are being gutted and turned over to private companies so they can profit from them. It happened to the state's Medicaid Program. It's happening to public education with private school vouchers that have no income limits. As State Treasurer, I will not let that happen to the Iowa Public Employee Retirement System (IPERS) and the 400,000 members who count on it for retirement.
