Jorge DeFendini is a Puerto Rican Democratic Socialist running for re-election to represent Ward 4 on the Ithaca Common Council. Since being elected to Common Council in 2021, Jorge has fought for dignified housing, stood in the way of policies to criminalize homelessness, supported Starbucks workers facing vicious union busting, and graduated from Cornell University wit a double major in Government and American Studies. Jorge is a tenant working in the fast food industry at Insomnia Cookies, and he knows firsthand what we need for a more just economy with renter and worker protections.
With your support, Jorge can stay on Common Council to work to outlaw unjustified firings, implement civilian oversight to bring real accountability to the Ithaca Police, and stabilize the skyrocketing rents in some of Ithaca’s biggest buildings.
Donations go to the Solidarity Slate, a collaboration between three grassroots organizations and five candidates for Common Council.
