Josh Bassais

Pragmatic Progressive Leader!

As a lifelong Minneapolis resident with deep ties to Ward 8, my journey began in the city's public schools, inspired by my mother's dedication as a union member. I joined my first union picket line in middle school and later became actively involved in the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) party, serving as a Precinct Chair.

Embracing my family's legacy, I joined a union, advocated for employees, and empowered workers as a Union Organizer with LIUNA, The Laborers Union. Currently, I work in Artificial Intelligence at Thomson Reuters, blending grassroots activism with professional acumen.

My wife and I are proud homeowners, raising our family in the same community, with our children attending Minneapolis Public Schools, just as I did. Beyond work, I engage passionately in our community, serving as Board President for the Lyndale Neighborhood Association and coaching youth sports. I am committed to fostering Minneapolis's diversity, strength, and resilience.

I'm running for Minneapolis City Council in Ward 8 to bring pragmatic, common-sense leadership that transforms the city into a thriving community for all. My campaign focuses on public safety reform, mental health support, youth development, affordable housing, and economic opportunities. I seek your support to realize this vision for Minneapolis, creating a city where everyone feels safe, supported, and empowered.
