My name is Joshua Clennon. I'm a 5th generation Harlemite, I grew up on 140th and St. Nicholas Ave and graduated from Frederick Douglass Academy and Penn State University. I work as an affordable housing manager, helping tenants get the repairs they need while keeping housing affordable for seniors and low-income residents. I'm not a politician- I'm an activist and organizer, that's fought for reforms, investments, and services for Harlem on the community board. I'm also a survivor that's lost a parent to gun violence. But this isn't about me, It's about us.

Why is the City Council important for Harlem? The council member's job is to bring your voice to City Hall and deliver critical resources and investments to the community from the city's $101.7 Billion budget. Council members oversee city agencies and have a big say in how developers build affordable housing in our city, in addition to passing laws that affect your every day life.

Harlem needs a City Council member that's going to work their tail off for YOU. As the next City Council Member of Harlem, I will work around the clock, to bring your voice to City Hall and fight for real change and investments that benefit all of us. There is too much at stake.

11% of Harlem women get late or no pre-natal care.
21% of Harlem residents live in poverty.
48% of Harlem residents are rent burdened.
Only 64% of Harlem students graduate HS on time.
Harlem residents experience higher rates of assault related hospitalizations (116), child asthma emergency department visits (545), and incarceration rates (1,050+) than other neighborhoods in Manhattan.
