Gun violence is a daily occurrence in this country and I believe we can have an impact and reduce it. I volunteer for Mom's Demand Action for Gun Sense. My motivation to join Moms began after my daughter, a student at FSU, called home late one night to tell me that there had been a shooting on the FSU campus and she was "ok". This is NOT ok, but thankfully she was. My commitment to this group was reinforced after the shooting at the Ft. Lauderdale airport, where we arrived minutes after that tragedy occurred. Two times, too close...any given day it could be my kids and I don't want to take that chance. So, I am trying to change this violent culture. Moms is an amazing melting pot of dedicated grassroots volunteer moms (& dads/sisters/uncles), working alongside a small nationwide team. All our work is data driven which maximizes our results. I give a lot of time to the organization because I believe very strongly in their work.
