Nelsie Yang ran for city council four years ago to champion the equitable investments and policies rooted in racial, economic, gender, and climate justice that our community in the East Side of Saint Paul deserved. Through the grassroots power of the community coming together, we won our campaign in 2019. Yes, so many of you made that historical win happen! THANK YOU!
As a progressive leader and the youngest and first Hmong American woman Saint Paul Councilmember, she is ecstatic to share an endless list of accomplishments to celebrate from these past three years. From getting potholes filled, and streets repaved, to larger accomplishments like passing rent stabilization, building a pathway to renovate our most outdated rec centers and libraries in the East Side, collaborating with community organizations and HourCar to launch an E-car program all throughout our city and now securing more funds to expand this service into the Greater East Side of Saint Paul, centering community voices in future development sites, to investing millions of dollars into deeply affordable housing, and more, these accomplishments were made possible because of our collective efforts in co-governing and building with each other.
Let’s win this re-election campaign in 2023 and create more wins for and with each other!
