My name is Karl Veto Baker and I am announcing my candidacy for Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) Trustee-at-Large.


I am stepping forward because I believe our community deserves leadership that is as fiscally disciplined as it is culturally rooted. For me, this isn’t just a campaign; it is a commitment to ensuring that OHA truly serves the people and performs as it was intended nearly 50 years ago.


To serve as your Trustee, one must understand both the numbers and the naʻau. My life’s work has prepared me to walk in both worlds. With 38 years as a mortgage banker, I bring a professional lifetime of financial expertise. I know how to navigate complex regulations and ensure that every dollar is managed with the transparency and accountability our community expects and deserves.


As a kumu hula, I am firmly grounded in our culture, ʻāina, traditions, and practices. I understand the pulse of our people because I live it every day.
