From the heart.
The truth is, I’ve never really “fit” in the party structure. Perhaps I’m too honest. Perhaps I’m too blunt.
What I realized more than anything through recent experiences is that I will never be “allowed” to hold office as a Democrat in Jim Dodd’s regime.
So, I’ve made a decision that will ensure Dover’s Third Ward voters have a REAL choice come November - by continuing my campaign for re-election into November as an Independent candidate.
Simply put, I am running for re-election because I love our community.
While I have many qualifications as a public servant and a government official, none of those qualifications matter more than my commitment to our town, and my love for our people.
I won’t bore you with the list of my qualifications to serve on our Council. Instead, I’m here to share with you what is in my heart, what I hope for, what I am here to give.
Every vote I have ever taken and will ever take as an elected official in the Town of Dover has been and will forever be from my heart. I have and will continue to read every page in our agenda packet and listen to every resident’s concerns.
I will come to a decision based on over 20 years of professional and legal experience.
I will vote not for what I’m told, not from a place of fear, not from a place of anger, but always, from my heart.
Because this is and always has been a labor of love for me.
I love our Rockaway River which cooled me in the summers at WaterWorks Park in the First Ward. If you vote for me to continue on our Council, I will vote in favor of every ordinance and resolution designed to protect our river.
I love the Second Ward, especially Prospect Street where I lived my adolescence. I will always vote to ensure the Second Ward is safe and clean.
I purchased my first and forever home in the Third Ward, where I live with the loves of my life: my grandmother, my husband, my son, my baby brother, and our rescued doggie. On the Council, I will continue to work and vote to ensure a good quality of life for our neighbors in the Third Ward and throughout our entire town.
I love our Fourth Ward, home to our library, a refuge for me and so many in our community. I will vote to ensure the Fourth Ward has the resources to protect it from flooding, crashes, and harm.
I am a public servant.
I am a lawyer.
I’m a Council Member with decades of board experience.
But, most importantly, I am a loving and lifelong member of this community. I will continue giving of myself to this community, in whichever capacity our voters choose to allow me to serve.
Thank you for your consideration, and hopefully your vote.
I hope to see you at our Council meetings, in support of our community events, and at the polls in November.
