My name is Kate Sills, and I’m running for Congress in California's 5th District.
I grew up on my family’s organic farm in the Sacramento Valley, graduated from UC Berkeley, worked in the DC area, and eventually moved here to Sonora.
I’ve built a wonderful life here, as the lead singer in a country band, a master gardener, the former chair of the Sonora Writers Group, and former co-leader of Tuolumne County Indivisible.
I’m running for Congress because we deserve better representation. We deserve in-person town halls during every Congressional recess. We deserve a powerful advocate in the House, who lives in the district and understands our issues.
I’m running because my brother is in the Navy, and the Trump administration is betraying our service members, ordering them to carry out unlawful orders that have no legal justification.
I’m running because I grew up alongside the children of immigrants, and now immigrants are being terrorized, taken off the streets, and put in detention centers.
I'm running because tariffs are driving up prices, making life unaffordable. I’m running because too many of my neighbors are struggling to put food on their tables.
I want to represent you and your family and your neighbors. We can win this race, but it will take all of us. Join us today and thank you for making a donation.
Yours,
Kate Sills
