About Katharine
Katharine Clark is the current Santa Fe County Clerk, focused on transforming and modernizing our election process since taking office in 2021. She has led her staff in improving the voter experience, voting access, and in making the County Clerk’s office user friendly for everyone.
Under Katharine’s guidance, Santa Fe County is the only county in New Mexico to be twice honored by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission for best practices in election administration. Santa Fe County continues to lead New Mexico in election administration firsts, in a state which is currently highest ranked in election administration (MIT election index).
She currently serves as Santa Fe County’s delegate to the NM Association of Counties and on the Finance, Pensions & Intergovernmental Affairs Policy Steering Committee and Elections subcommittee for the National Association of Counties. She is founding steering committee member of the Partnership for Large Election Jurisdictions. And she serves her local community as a Santa Fe Pride and Human Rights Alliance Board Member.
A former small business owner, executive management consultant and technologist, Katharine brings to the office extensive experience in building effective teams, managing a diverse workforce and the technical expertise vital to leading a twenty-first century operation. Her experience at successfully managing 200+ people demonstrates her strong communication and interpersonal skills. In addition, Katharine has policy experience having served as committee secretary and committee analyst at the NM Legislature.
