She has spearheaded the movement for community engagement to give residents a voice; pushed for equitable development to include more MBEs and WBEs in larger projects by looking for ways to break down barriers (e.g., lack of access to capital, difficulty with first-time bonding, and need for mentorship opportunities with larger companies); encouraged affordable homeownership and housing; helped organize a new career pathways initiative for youth; highlighted the need to address childhood trauma; and is working on legislation to stop gun violence.
