Each day in the United States, 93 people die from gun violence. Of those 93, 7 are children and teens. For every person who dies, 2 more are injured. This violence is not limited to victims but impacts their families, friends, and neighborhoods.
We can do something to change this horrific reality, and there is no more important time to get involved than NOW.
The Wear Orange Campaign was inspired by friends of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old Chicago student killed by gunfire just days after dancing in President Obama's Inaugural Parade. They honor her life by wearing orange — the color hunters wear in the woods to say "see me". On June 2, what would have been Hadiya’s 20th birthday, hundreds of thousands of Americans will come together to #WearOrange and show their support for a future free from gun violence.
Funds will go toward public education, survivor support and engagement, advocacy efforts, and research.
