Hi, my name is Kelsey Jezierski (she/her/hers) and I’m excited to officially announce that I’m running for a seat on the Farmington School Board. I have been an active voice within our community for the past couple of years by speaking out in support of initiatives that support all our learners and advocating for change where it’s needed.

When we moved to Farmington a decade ago, we fell in love with the charming community and historic roots. We appreciated the small town feel that was steps away from a variety of different resources. We valued the support we saw within the community and felt this was a great place to raise our family. But like any other thriving community, there were also growing edges, both at the city level and within our educational system.

A little over 25% of District 192’s learners identify as an ethnicity other than white. Yet the current school board does not reflect these numbers. In fact, there hasn’t been a Board Member of color for at least 20 years, if at all. Representation is essential in spaces where critical decisions are being made. I believe that I can be a representative for all our learners, teachers, staff, families, and residents. I bring a different perspective through my lived experiences and professional life. I understand what it means to connect with others, build authentic relationships, and to listening to understand versus listening to respond.

I have identified four key priorities that I’d like to work towards if I were to be elected. I am passionate about each one due to personal experiences and observations and listening to the concerns of others.

My priorities are:

Championing and centering essential mental health supports
Collaboration and compromise through courageous conversations
Continuing to advocate for enhanced equity
Being fiscally conscientious

I hope to be able to dedicate my time working towards these initiatives and making positive change for all learners, teachers, staff, administration, and community.

I would be honored to earn your vote to serve on the School Board where I can be a representative for all.
