The Kent County I-BOND (Immigrant Bond for Our Neighbors’ Defense) Fund is an immigrant bond fund for people in Kent County, Michigan facing detention on immigration-related charges. In 2020, the median amount for immigration bond in Michigan has risen to $7,000, but can be even higher. Raising this much money is often extremely difficult or impossible for a detained person or their family, especially if the detained person loses wages or their job while behind bars. Our community-supported bond fund pays partial or full amounts of the bond needed to free our neighbors and allow them to return to their loved ones and their jobs before their court date, which is often set very far in the future. Further more, detainees released on bond have an astoundingly higher rate of successfully avoiding deportation––68% win their case. When their case is closed, the money is returned to our fund to be used again to help free more of our immigrant neighbors. But first, we need your support. Can you make a donation?
