Goal thermometer

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is a grassroots group fighting for common-sense gun laws. We support measures that most Americans agree on—from background checks on all gun sales, to preventing domestic abusers from getting their hands on guns, to closing the sorts of loopholes that allowed a white supremacist to kill 9 people in the sanctity of their Charleston church.

Anyone who knows me, has seen my social media posts, or (unlikely!) seen my basement full of placards and gear knows that I’m very committed to Moms Demand Action. Over the last year or so, I've organized friends, neighbors, my husband, my kids, and even my own actual mom (who's now also a Moms volunteer-organizer in her home state of Rhode Island) to take action.

I believe so strongly in what Moms volunteers are doing in Missouri and around the country that I’ve challenged myself to raise $1,000 for Moms Demand Action by June 2--Gun Violence Awareness Day, a part of our Wear Orange campaign. Wear Orange was inspired by friends of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old Chicago high school student killed by gunfire, who decided to honor her life by wearing orange–the color hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others.

In honor of our Wear Orange campaign, we're raising awareness about how big a problem gun violence is in the United States, AND raising money to help solve that problem. The best part? A percentage of the money we raise for Moms Demand Action will be returned to our Missouri chapter. That means that we can pay for more local tabling events, Be SMART gun safety presentations, Wear Orange events, volunteer trainings, survivor engagement—the sorts of things that allow us to grow our base of people who are willing to stand up and fight for common-sense solutions to this public health crisis. Your generous contribution will also support groundbreaking original research into the causes of gun violence and the means to reduce it through evidence-based policies and practices. And it will help our volunteers communicate this knowledge far and wide as we work to change our culture by reducing gun violence.

Will you join me in the fight against gun violence with a gift of $25 to support our education programs and our work with gun violence survivors?

When you give, your tax deductible donation supports the work of Moms here and across the country. And you will have not only my gratitude, but the gratitude of Moms volunteers and survivors everywhere. Thank you!
