Open Books provides an easy path for communities to support LGBTQ+ youth, by working with publishers to purchase and donate LGBTQ+ affirming books to elementary school libraries.
Recently, Open Books was offered the opportunity to fulfill our biggest book donation yet: The Los Angeles Unified School District, the second largest school district in the nation, with nearly 400,000 students.
We need to raise $85,000 by July 16th to purchase the books needed for 440 elementary schools in LAUSD.
