Student Emergency Relief Fund

We have seen far too often that a hardship of $500 is often the barrier for students continuing their higher education journey.

Many students, even those who receive financial aid from their college institutions, face hardships throughout the year that are not covered by the aid they have received. We saw this during the COVID-19 pandemic and the need has not stopped. Families lost employment opportunities, faced health crises, and had enduring long-term effects, making them unable to support their child’s college expenses and causing them to rely more heavily on their children for financial support for their households. These effects continue to impact our LEAF Scholars and Mentors.

LEAF’s emergency fund is open to LEAF Scholars and Mentors, as well as students who are on our scholarship waitlist. These funds are paid out directly to students and students use them for groceries, textbooks, technology, housing costs, and much more. Having these emergency funds are crucial in making sure our students continue to persist in college while also being able to feel less stressed when a financial situation arises.

Any donation to this fund would make a significant impact on a student’s life.
