As most of you probably know, I've been a member of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America for several years. In that time, I have learned much about how lax gun laws make it possible for heartbreaking acts of gun violence to occur: school shootings, unintentional gun deaths by and of children, murder by domestic abusers who are able to buy firearms, and suicides.
Our Washington state chapter of Moms has advocated for common sense gun laws in our state and communities — supporting legislation and ballot initiatives and educating parents about the importance of secure storage. We also fight on a national level by opposing dangerous laws that would allow things like permit-less carry of loaded weapons, guns on college campuses, and loopholes that enable prohibited purchasers access to firearms. Our grassroots organization of Moms from all over the country has been working tirelessly to bring awareness to the epidemic of gun violence that kills 93 Americans every day (8 of them children).
This June 2nd I’ll be wearing orange to recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day and to honor victims of gun violence. I’m also raising money to support the work that I and thousands of others do for Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety. Your donation to this campaign helps support our local chapter, providing funds for us to continue to champion common sense gun policies and help with our on-going efforts to train more gun sense activists.
Thank you so much for your support and your commitment to a future free from gun violence.
