Leonard Lee seeks to serve the District 4 communities of Dorchester, Roslindale and Jamaica Plain on the Boston City Council. He truly understands the importance of serving his community and has the experience to prove it.

A humble, solutions-oriented, hard-working, and committed 2nd generation son of Boston, Leonard grew up in the Franklin Field Housing Development in Dorchester. He attended the Boston Public School and the Lexington High School through the METCO Program. A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, Leonard also attended Boston University where he studied non-profit management. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Incorporated, a professional mediator and has received over 200 national, city, and state community awards and citations.

For over 30 years, Leonard has worked in senior management in the public and non-profit sectors. He is considered an expert in a number of community issues – public health, youth violence prevention, senior citizens programming, housing, and more. Currently, he holds the position of the General Manager and Curator for the Melnea Cass Complex and Roxbury Heritage Park, and also serves as a Commissioner on the City of Boston's Parks Commission and Human Rights Commission, and numerous other community boards. Leonard is also a former Deputy Commissioner of Public Health for the state of Connecticut.

A highly motivated and firm believer in public service, Leonard lives and breathes community. He cherishes opportunities to be a "voice for the voiceless". Above all, he loves people, and is passionate about finding solutions to the issues that confront from Gen-Z to Baby Boomers – and beyond. He has utilized his skills, knowledge, ability, and time, while leveraging his network, built over the last 35 years, to advance and uplift his Boston community. He is a problem solver, coalition builder, grassroots activist, and peer leadership adviser. A former foster parent, he has also raised three children of his own.

Leonard is running for Boston City Council because he wants to ensure that his beloved community and city of Boston can rise up strong from the Covid19 pandemic. He has been tagged as the "Mask Man" for giving out over 150,000 masks and free hand sanitizer to those in need.

His first priority, within the District and beyond, is the elimination of COVID-19. He's running to be your voice in the decisions affecting our community and city. He will work tirelessly to prioritize the health and safety of all. But he can't do it alone; he needs your help.
