Summer Legal Defense Fundraiser

Goal thermometer

Pueblo Unido’s Summer Legal Defense Fundraising Campaign seeks to raise $20,000 over 10 weeks towards legal defense for community members with vulnerable immigration status. Your support for this campaign will help us offer hope to local families in the fight against deportation and secure their right to remain in their communities with their loved ones.

Your contribution to immigrant legal defense is especially important at this moment because the free deportation defense program, Equity Corps of Oregon (ECO), ended on June 30th, 2021. Fortunately, the State Legislature did approve renewed funding for this program, but the renewed funding will not actually be dispersed until Fall 2021.

This means that there will be a gap in services for thousands of Oregonians with an immediate need for immigration legal aid, including those who have upcoming court hearings and filing deadlines. These individuals and families are now turning to Pueblo Unido for help hiring private attorneys, and your contributions will help us bridge the gap to ensure that they are able to get the urgent assistance that they need.

Your support of this campaign will also bring support to individuals who will not qualify for the ECO program even after it resumes, including those who are contesting a final deportation order, held in ICE custody at a detention center, or affirmatively seeking to obtain an immigration status.

Throughout this campaign, donors will have a chance to win exciting gift packages that have been generously donated by local businesses. Check out our Instagram (@pueblounidopdx) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/PuebloUnidoPDX/) pages for more information about your chance to win.
