About Jennifer:

While in college at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), Jennifer served as the Editor for the Science & Technology section of the university's newspaper, she was elected President of the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) and she joined her school's Air Force Reserves Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. Working under the mentorship of scientists at UAH and the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Jennifer flew an experiment with diatoms on Space Shuttle flight STS-95 in 1998.

She later transferred to Arkansas Tech University (ATU) in 2000, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. She went on to earn a Master's Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Arkansas in 2005, and moved back to Russellville in 2008 to teach full-time in ATU's Biology Department. While working at ATU, she completed a Ph.D. in Plant Science at the University of Arkansas, and spent nearly three years as the Executive Director of the Russellville Community Market, a local online farmers' market. She recently spent two years as the Executive Director at the River Valley Arts Center, a non-profit community arts organization in Russellville. Dr. Lewter currently works full-time as a biology teacher at Russellville High School.
